Fireworks Night

Some brave members of SWAT took it upon themselves to go to a singles event hoping to report good news..this is what we found:

that people had travelled from up and down the country to hoping to meet the special one
there were people from birmingham, winchester, yorkshire, oxford as well as plenty from London!
(and really showed us that there is much more the local church can do in bringing people together...come on girls, lets do some thinking)

that there was certainly a difference in the kind of girls and guys attracted to the event
the girls seemed strong, independent and fiesty whilst the boys were much more gentle
(this was kind of strange and not quite right...but maybe something else to learn from)

It was kind of sad in a way, so many people desparately searching for the right person, but what I realised more than anything is that all our hope needs to be in God. We can put our hope into all sorts of things and constantly be let down. However, if our hope is in the Lord we will never be disappointed. He is the Father who is desparate to give His children what they ask for but, more than this, he is the stong and powerful, mighty creator God who is able to give His children anything they ask for. People and things on earth are always going to disappoint and fail us, but God NEVER EVER will. All His promises are kept, and one day, we get to be right there with Him in Heaven, which is just amazing and wonderful and fantastic. Sure, we can hope for love one day, but don't forget the love we have right now from God. If our hope is in Him, we aren't ever going to be disappointed and let down, because the promises He makes are real and true and brilliant and He will always keep them. '...but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.They will soar on wings like eagles;they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. ' (Isaiah 40:31)
