Nothing to wear?

The world we live in has a very high opinion of physical appearance. Being single can make you question your appearance - why aren't men attracted to me? Is it because I am too fat, too thin,
too tall, too short, not pretty enough? Well listen to this, sisters:
'What matters is not your outer appearance - the styling of your hair, the jewellry you wear, the cut of your clothes - but your inner dispostion.
Cultivate inner beauty, the gentle, gracious kind that God delights in.'
1 Peter 3:4ish (The Message)
That is not taken from some self help manual or a girly magazine - that is from the Bible. How wonderful to have that inner beauty that God delights in! That is what we need to be cultivating, and praying for - not that we should loose a few pounds or grow a few more inches or that something in our wardrobe would fit, without being too tight, but that we could have such beauty on the inside, where perhaps the world won't see it, but God will rejoice and delight in it. Surely God's joy is worth so much more than the fleeting envy of the world?
In Isaiah 53:2 it says that 'He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to Him, nothing in His appearance that we should desire Him' and the prophet is talking about Jesus! The very man who we call Beautiful One, and Beautiful Lord in our songs and whose presence we desire so greatly in our lives.
I guess Christ cultivated that inner beauty that God loves so much.
'So chosen by God for this new life of love, dress in the wardrobe God picked out for you: compassion, kindness, humility, quiet strength, discipline.'
Colossians 3:12 (The Message)
Nothing to wear? Pray! God will be so happy to clothe you.

you do bring us some interesting topics....tough one, this one:
inner beauty v outer beauty
i totally agree, inner beauty is so much more important than outer beauty BUT i find it so much harder to appreciate and invest in.
it's strange when you think about it because we all know that when you see beautiful clothes in the shops you know that once you wash them they will be slightly baggy, lighter and bobbly, where as with inner beauty you know that when you practice kindness, it grows and becomes more colourful, blessing those around us and reflecting His glory - v exciting!!!

I truly love that the beauty inside us will never need injections or plastic surgery or special washing powder to stay lovely, but instead will grow in colour and vibrance and just be 'more' because of God. And do you know what I think? If our inside is glowing with love and kindness, something is going to leak out into our faces and the beauty that God is helping us grow inside us will surely light us up.
Lord, You are so amazing and awesome and beautiful. Help us Lord, to become beautiful like You, not with a worldy beauty but with the lasting beauty of Christ. The beauty of kindness and gentleness and love and all them other things that You rejoice to see in us. Help us to remember that what's on the outside is not half as important as what's on the inside and that though the world may be blind to the inside, that's what You see and You are the most important and wonderful thing in our lives. We live exclusively for You Lord, and it is You we long to please.
I love You Lord, and I am so happy that I know you.
Thank you.
xxxxxxxxxx
Amen
